Kelan Macy is the founder and owner of Clara Vista solutions. He is passionate about using bookkeeping to help small business owners accomplish their goals and reach their full potential. Kelan has always enjoyed puzzles and numbers and loves using creative bookkeeping strategies to help businesses succeed. He is a certified professional bookkeeper and is a QuickBooks Online Pro Advisor.

Over the years, Kelan has worked with many small business owners and has been inspired by their work ethic. He knows that they work hard with late nights and long hours to provide for their families. His goal is the lighten their load by offering some insight to help them feel more comfortable with their decisions.

Kelan currently lives in Cincinnati, Ohio, with his wife of 11 years, Ariel, and their five kids: Raen, Josie, Logan, Gus, and Lorelei. He loves to play soccer and basketball and takes the occasional cruise on his motorcycle. Laughing is his favorite way to pass the time, particularly while watching The Office or Psych.

Why did you start bookkeeping?

Bookkeeping allows me to solve puzzles, use numbers and accounting philosophies strategically, help other small business owners reach their goals and potentials daily. I enjoy trying to figure out how to manage money more strategically to see the business in different lights. Have smart data allows us to make smart decisions.

Why do you like working with small business owners?

Small business owners are just like me. Tired yet motivated, ambitious yet worried, and just a little bit crazy. Most small business owners have huge dreams and see freedom in their near future. I want to help make that happen by providing the 3 main financial statements. I will take that a step further and work with them to understand and analyze what the reports show and what can be learned. Having access to and understanding smart data will help make smart decisions bringing financial freedom closer and closer.

What have you learned from working with small business owners?

Working with small business owners, I have been inspired by their work ethic, making me want to work harder for them. I see them typically working late nights and long hours working hard to provide for their families. If I can help provide some insight and help them feel more comfortable with their decisions and not make them, I will be happy.
